Why not just hose them out myself?
You can — but a garden hose moves the sludge around, doesn't kill anything, and the smell's back in a week. Hot pressurized water plus a sanitizing rinse is what actually resets a bin.
Do I need to be home?
No. Leave the bins at the curb on pickup day and we handle it after the truck comes. You'll come home to clean cans.
How often should bins get cleaned?
Monthly keeps them genuinely odor-free — that's what the $40-a-month plan (both cans, every month) is for. A one-time clean before summer is the minimum that makes a difference.
What happens to the dirty water?
It's captured and disposed of properly — not sent down your storm drain.
